Are You Tempted Not to be Brave at Work?

When you think about doing something brave at work, do you worry? Are you afraid? For lots of different reasons?
Maybe you’ll make a mistake, offend someone, embarrass yourself, or just draw unwanted attention to yourself?

John Le Carre wrote, “There are always dozens of reasons for doing nothing.”
We tend to overestimate the risk and underestimate the reward of doing something – including being brave.

Why would we want to be brave at work?

Here are some questions to think about:
-Do we want to inspire others?
-Are we proud when we are brave?
-How do we want our team to think about us?
-How do we want our colleagues to think about us and our team?
-How deeply do we want to connect with our colleagues and customers?
-Are the people we admire brave?
-How do we want to be remembered?

In upcoming posts, I’ll pinpoint why and how and when and where we can be brave at work.
